Brand new Jurassic World: Dominion set photos reveal the look of a new horrifying dinosaur. The third installment of Jurassic World is back to shooting after months away due to the coronavirus pandemic. The film will tie together various elements of the entire franchise, and since the shooting has resumed, fans have gotten many teases, including a photo of Sam Neill’s iconic Alan Grant hat. Neill, Jeff Goldblum, and Laura Dern will play major roles alongside Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, the latter of which has already called the movie “awesome” and “exhilarating.”

A big part of any Jurassic Park film is, of course, the dinosaurs. While Dominion is bringing back various stars from Jurassic Park, it is also reportedly returning to the way dinosaurs were created in the original films. According to director Colin Trevorrow, Jurassic World 3 will be “more practical” and feature more animatronic dinosaurs, unlike the 2015 Jurassic World. In addition to the visual style of dinosaurs people can expect to enjoy, fans have also seen that Trevorrow’s latest movie will mark the return of the tiny and terrifying Compsognathus’. Now, another dinosaur design has been revealed.

New set photos tweeted out by the Twitter account Jurassic_World_Fandom, shows a brand new horrifying design for what could be, according to the tweet, “Dominion’s Pyroraptor.” The close-up photo of the design, as well as the photo of crew members holding the dinosaur heads, show that it is, as @brycenator100 says, “just a maquette not an animatronic so it’s used for reference.” The tweet also highlights that the design for the rather scary looking dinosaur could change when seen in the finished product. The original tweets and photos can be seen below:

With Jurassic World: Dominion marking the end of the series, fans will no doubt want to see classic dinosaurs from previous movies, but new dinosaurs like this one will be fun for fans as well. If this dinosaur is indeed another type of raptor, it could be interesting to see how it interacts with Blue, the fan-favorite velociraptor that was present in the first two Jurassic World movies. Interestingly, the photos look to be from the set of Dominion’s shooting in Malta, which was unfortunately impacted by a coronavirus outbreak and led to Universal deciding only the second unit would be shooting there.

The newest Jurassic World will be a “large-scale, global, epic story,” according to Trevorrow, as the film will see dinosaurs finally in the outside world, no longer contained by an island. Along with the returning cast, one of the incredibly exciting parts about the upcoming film is seeing where these dinosaurs end up and what havoc they will cause. There have already been hints that we could see dinosaurs in an arctic setting. Fans will have to wait until June 2021 to see what Jurassic World: Dominion has in store for the dinosaurs, but terrifying designs like these photos show certainly helps build excitement.
