The sequel to Paramount’s 2010 adventure comedy Hot Tub Time Machine opens in theaters this weekend, bringing back three quarters of the main cast and adding Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation) to round out the troupe. We had the chance to chat with Scott, alongside returning stars Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson and Clark Duke, about Hot Tub Time Machine 2 and it’s evident from their chemistry that they don’t need scripted material to be entertaining.

This time around, when Lou (Rob Corddry) finds himself in trouble, Nick (Craig Robinson) and Jacob (Clark Duke) fire up the hot tub time machine in an attempt to get back to the past. But they inadvertently land in the future with Adam Jr. (Adam Scott). Now they have to alter the future in order to save the past… which is really the present, in the sequel from the same team that brought you the original cult hit.

Krisily Kennedy speaks with the four about how the sequel aims to be fresh and different from its predecessor and how there’s no strict formula they need to follow to have fun with time travel and their characters. And of course, we delve into how the cast treated newcomer Adam Scott.
