The trailer for HOOPS reveals more of Lord & Miller’s upcoming animated basketball comedy for Netflix. Premiering on August 21, HOOPS focuses on a short-tempered and exceptionally foul-mouthed basketball coach who believes that turning around the fortunes of his basketball team will serve as his ticket to superstardom. The comedy is created by Archer writer Ben Hoffman, with Phil Lord and Chris Miller involved as producers.

Netflix has now released a full trailer for HOOPS, which will consist of ten episodes. The preview functions as a deep dive into the lead character of Coach Ben Hopkins (voiced by Jake Johnson). Hopkins is far from an idealistic protagonist, which makes him well-suited to the show around him. It’s clear that, in spite of any sentimentality and personal growth experienced by the characters, HOOPS definitely fits more comfortably into the adult realm of animated programming. The trailer contains a stream of expletives, a flash of nudity, and plenty of innuendo. You can check it out below.

The sports comedy will join Netflix’s existing slate of adult animation, which includes renewed series such as Big Mouth, Disenchanted, and Paradise P.D. In addition to Johnson, the cast of HOOPS includes A.D. Miles, Cleo King, Guy Fieri, Natasha Leggero, Nick Swardson, Rob Riggle, Ron Funches, Sam Richardson, W. Earl Brown, and Will Forte. The comedy will also serve as a reunion of sorts, as some of Johnson’s co-stars from New Girl will lend their voices to the project. Damon Wayans Jr., Max Greenfield, and Hannah Simone are all slated to be a part of HOOPS.
