As the DC Cinematic Universe begins to take shape, one of the most talked-about projects on the post-Man of Steel slate is villain/antihero team-up film Suicide Squad. While fans still have over a year to wait before being introduced to Oscar winner Jared Leto’s take on the Joker, this month may bring a bit of a hint of what’s to come.

Will Smith and Margot Robbie share the screen as con artists in crime film Focus before teaming up as Deadshot and Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad next year, and the film – directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (Crazy, Stupid, Love) – looks like it could be a fun, playful and exhilarating crime romp akin to Ocean’s Eleven. We’ve already seen a pair of trailers for the film, which seem to deliver on the promise its premise offers.

Now we have a look at the international trailer for Focus, and though it doesn’t drop any massive revelations about the plot that weren’t already teased in the previous footage, it does continue to build on the palpable chemistry between Smith and Robbie. While Focus may offer some semblance of how Smith and Robbie may play off of each other in Suicide Squad, there’s far more at stake for both stars.

In Smith’s case, the film marks his first starring role since the disappointing critical and box office performance of After Earth. The actor hasn’t had a hit since Men in Black 3 in 2012 and even that film was only moderately successful. His career could use a boost right now if Smith hopes to avoid slipping off the A-list.

For Robbie, Focus offers the chance for her to prove herself as leading lady material. Following a standout performance in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street, Robbie is primed for stardom with her DC role as the Joker’s fan-favorite love interest Harley Quinn, and starring as the co-lead of a film like Focus beforehand could go a long way in propelling her to becoming a household name.

In any case, the marketing campaign for Focus continues to paint a pretty clear picture of what fans can expect. Here’s hoping the film manages to live up to its potential and deliver an entertaining film with two stars at the top of their respective games.
