Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista is the only one who can settle the score, and save 35,000 hostages, in the first trailer and poster for Final Score. Thanks in large part to his role as the lumbering, literal-minded Drax in the Guardians films and Avengers: Infinity War, Bautista is now on a trajectory toward action movie stardom.

Earlier this year, Bautista starred alongside legendary action hero Sylvester Stallone in the bruising prison movie Escape Plan 2. Bautista also played a key role in last year's Blade Runner 2049 as the replicant Sapper Morton, a peaceful pasta-cooking farmer hunted down by Ryan Gosling's K., leading to a very memorable fight scene. In his newest movie, Bautista takes a page out of Liam Neeson's book by playing a lone man pitted against a vast array of heavily armed terrorists. And it's the terrorists who had better look out.

Directed by Scott Mann, Final Score stars Bautista and Pierce Brosnan in an explosive action thriller. Sky Cinema has now dropped the movie's first trailer along with a one-sheet poster. See the trailer above and get a look at the poster below:

The movie's official synopsis reads as follows:

A group of heavily armed criminals take control of a stadium packed with 35,000 football fans. Ex-soldier Michael Knox (Dave Bautista, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, BLADE RUNNER 2049, SPECTRE) is forced to use skills from his military background and everything at his disposal to save the spectators, including the life of a fallen comrade's daughter.

The above premise sounds like the set-up for a classic Liam Neeson/Bruce Willis thriller (the poster too looks like classic Neeson-style art), but Bautista doesn't have quite the same physical presence as either Neeson or Willis. While those other actors could be anybody's dad or uncle, Bautista looks like an MMA fighter or professional wrestler. In the trailer when Bautista starts beating up on bad guys, it's totally believable and a little frightening. Bautista also likes snarling threats at the bad guys over walkie-talkies in a very Liam Neeson sort of way.

The trailer promises a straight-forward action movie in the Die Hard mold: Bautista is just trying to enjoy a soccer game when all of a sudden he learns the place has been taken over by terrorists who have rigged the entire stadium with explosives. And now it's his job to stop the terrorists using any weapon he can get his hands on, including frying pans and fire extinguishers. One of the big action sequences sees Bautista and a female baddie (they're described as Eastern European paramilitary) racing through the stadium on motorcycles trying to kill each other. Final Score is set for release on September 7 and Sky Cinema customers will have exclusive access to see it on Sky Cinema on the same day.
