Fast and the Furious 7 suffered a major setback in the form of the tragic death of star Paul Walker, forcing the studio and director James Wan to shut down production for a time and push back the release date.

Shooting resumed, however, with an ever-swelling budget, Paul Walker’s brothers stepping in as their brother’s body-doubles and the 13-week, effects-intensive reshoot schedule contributing to some serious challenges for the cast and crew.

The movie finished shooting in early July and entered the silence of post-production. Now, however, the movie’s official Facebook page has confirmed not only the movie’s official title - Furious 7 - but that the first trailer will debut next week. We also have a new poster (below) and glimpses from the set via the movie’s Vine page.

Because of our fans, our saga has grown bigger and better with every chapter. In just 7 days, we will reveal the first trailer for our next installment – FURIOUS 7 – at The Road to Furious 7: Trailer Launch Event at Universal Studios in Los Angeles!

We want to share this moment with all of our fans around the world. For those of you not able to attend in person, you’ll be able to follow a live broadcast starting at noon Pacific on the Fast & Furious Facebook page and on E!. For those in the Los Angeles area, tickets will be available starting tomorrow, October 27th, on the official Fast & Furious social pages.

For our extended FAST & FURIOUS family, we have set out to make the very best movie yet. We are excited to continue our journey together.
It should be noted that the previous entry in the franchise had the title card Furious 6 during the film’s debut Super Bowl trailer, as well as in the movie itself. Fans will be anxious to see just how much – or how little – of the film’s re-tooled story will be featured in the first trailer.

We’ll undoubtedly have to wait until next year to find out for sure whether or not Paul Walker’s character Brian O’Connor – bound to be remembered as the charismatic star’s signature role – will received the tasteful, respectful “retirement” he deserves, rather than the rushed, cop-out finale many were (and may still) be expecting.

What cannot be ignored is the effort, will-power and amazing stress involved with seeing this film to completion in the wake of a shocking personal tragedy. We’ll get our first good look at what the filmmakers have in store next week.

Furious 7 will open in theaters on April 3, 2015.
