With the new agreements, the service will now reach some 45,000 theater screens worldwide.

Online movie ticketing network Fandango has expanded its global reach under a multi-year deal with leading theater chains in Latin America, adding more than 5,000 screens in 15 countries.

In an announcement made out of the ShowEast Expo, Fandango said it has inked deals with Cinemark, Cinepolis and Cinemex, allowing its subsidiary Fandango Latin America to significantly up its presence in Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Bolivia and Peru. With Fandango's Brazil subsidiary Ingresso.com, Fandango's total coverage in Latin America comprises more than half of all screens across the region.

Fandango is looking to benefit from Latin America's fast-growing box-office market, which increased 22 percent in 2017, according to the Motion Picture Association of America. Mexico and Brazil rank Nos. 10 and 11, respectively, among the top 20 international box-office markets worldwide, and both have seen consistent growth in recent years.

"We're experiencing tremendous momentum in Latin America, signing new deals with leading cinema chains, enabling us to serve millions of additional moviegoers throughout the region," said Kevin Shepela, Fandango's senior vice president, global commerce.

In addition to expanding its screen count, Fandango is turning to new technology to sell tickets and offer online promotions to moviegoers. Brazil's Ingreso.com, acquired by Fandango in 2015, will soon become the country's first ticketing company to offer Google Pay's digital wallet as a form of payment for movie tickets.

And earlier this year Fandango added a "Buy Tickets" button to its Instagram profile.
