Being that J.J. Abrams’ “Star Wars: Episode 7″ is potentially one of the biggest films of 2015, and it doesn’t have an established cast — unlike, say, Joss Whedon’s “The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron” or the established-ish cast of Zack Snyder’s “Batman vs. Superman,” the two other films that will crush the 2015 box office — of course every name in Hollywood is being mentioned as a possible candidate for this and that role.

Basically at this point if you’re an actor and your name isn’t being talked about as a potential castmember of “Star Wars: Episode 7,” then you need to fire your agent/manager/both and get new ones.

As of right now, here are all the actors who have either already tested for a role, talked to Abrams about a role, is scheduled to talk to him about a role, or leaked to someone somewhere that they’re looking at a role in the upcoming movie:

Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael B. Jordan, Jack O’Connell, Alex Pettyfer, Saoirse Ronan and Sullivan Stapleton, Jesse Plemons, Michael Fassbender, Adam Driver and Hugo Weaving.

And those, we’re told, are only the names of actors that got leaked, or whose agent/manager were working overtime to link them to the movie. The only actors we know for sure who will be showing up in “Episode 7″ are the original three of Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher.

Cast someone already, J.J.

As for a potential plot? THR has this:

Abrams…wanted Episode VII to focus on the classic trio of characters, so audiences could have one more chance to enjoy them before a fitting send-off. The new characters, the offspring, will now be in supporting roles, according to these sources, and take center stage in Episode VIII and IX. Some characters have disappeared from the Arndt script and new ones are being drafted.

Abrams is an unabashed big fan of the original trilogy, so it makes sense that the new script he’s currently writing with Lawrence Kasdan will include his childhood faves.

As for the cast, it’ll get announced when it gets sannounced. Right now, you can throw just about any name out there, and none of it means anything, because a movie this big will always have a lot of people doing “meetings” and “talks.” Some of those people will be looking to cash in on the association by “leaking” to the trades.

We’ll find out when we find out, and not a second sooner.
