There are quite a few franchises getting follow-up sequels decades after the fact, from next year’s Jurassic World to the still-in-development Ghostbusters 3. This November, though, we’re finally going to see the long-promised reunion of Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels in Dumb and Dumber To.

The movie’s trailer finds Harry (Daniels) and Lloyd (Carrey) twenty years on as they hit the road to meet Lloyd’s long-lost daughter (who Harry has a crush on), and there’s also something about a kidney transplant. Really, though, the plot is secondary to watching Carrey, Daniels and writer-directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly return to gross-out form and remind us why the insane original film still has a very weird spot in our hearts.

Early reactions to Dumb and Dumber To have been mostly positive, but in the midst of the summer blockbuster season, the marketing for the sequel has gone quiet. Now, two new character posters have debuted in the vein of Lucy, the quasi-superhero hit movie starring Scarlett Johansson, along with a rephrasing of that film’s tagline (long-debunked science myth and all):

The posters come to us from Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey’s Twitter accounts. Check them out below:

These posters are fun and clever, and even if they have no real meaning beyond this superficial cleverness, they’re still nice. And the entire premise of Lucy may be based on an utter myth, but if there any two characters who we could believe use no more than a percent of their brainpower, it’s Harry and Lloyd.

Fans of the Farrelly Brothers’ best movies – the original Dumb and Dumber, Kingpin, and There’s Something About Mary – should look forward to some more of that same old gross magic, as fans of Jim Carrey should rejoice in what can be seen as something of a comeback. Daniels, however, is making a 180 from his acclaimed dramatic role in HBO’s The Newsroom, and it will be fun to see him dumb it down once more.

What do you think, Screen Rant readers? Do you like the posters? Are you looking forward to this sequel? Let us know in the comments.

Dumb and Dumber To opens in theaters on November 14, 2014.
