Spinning out of the upcoming Titans series, Doom Patrol has just been added to DC Universe's slate of upcoming streaming shows. When word first broke of a streaming service run by DC, it seemed exciting enough knowing Young Justice season 3 and the long-in-development Titans would have a place there. But since that time, the effort has greatly expanded. DC Universe was formally announced two weeks ago, with confirmation that the Harley Quinn animated series would be joining the initial rollout. And things have only grown from there.

Though there's no word on the status of Metropolis, a James Wan-produced Swamp Thing TV series was announced and given a logo alongside the other three shows. Though none of them have a release date yet, Titans should be just around the corner and Young Justice is also expected to arrive later this year. Now, it looks like Greg Berlanti and the other minds behind DC Universe are already following the Arrowverse model and spinning things out.

EW is reporting that a Doom Patrol TV series will also be coming from DC Universe. We know episode 5 of Titans will introduce the classic team, and now it looks as if that will serve as the launching point for the new show. Berlanti will produce the series and write it alongside Geoff Johns and Jeremy Carver, on top of his duties overseeing the Arrowverse. Below, you can check out the logo for Doom Patrol alongside a synopsis.

Doom Patrol is a re-imagining of one of DC’s most beloved group of outcast Super Heroes: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl and Crazy Jane, led by modern-day mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder (The Chief). The Doom Patrol’s members each suffered horrible accidents that gave them superhuman abilities — but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through The Chief, who brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence — and to protect Earth from what they find. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. Picking up after the events of Titans, Doom Patrol will find these reluctant heroes in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse, but with a warning that is hard to ignore: their lives will never, ever be the same.

Though most of the team has already been cast, we haven't yet heard about Crazy Jane being on the team. In all likelihood, she won't feature in the Titans episode and will instead be a new character introduced when Doom Patrol premieres. Regardless, the announcement of the show is a bold move. While Young Justice at least had a built-in fanbase and anything tied to Harley Quinn is bound to be a hit, Swamp Thing and Titans will be a bit more of a risk. But rather than wait and see how they perform, it looks as if DC Universe is following the model of the films and pulling the trigger on multiple shows at once.

It was never clear how big of a publishing arm DC universe would be, but with five shows announced and a sixth in development, the slate will rival The CW's Arrowverse. All told, the presence of DC on the small screen will blow way past Marvel with this new batch of shows, which Warner Bros. could be treating as their own version of The Defenders universe on Netflix.

Soon, DC and Warner Bros. won't be the only game in town. Though Marvel won't have their own dedicated streaming service, Disney's new offering will feature all future Marvel shows. What's more, it's clear Hulu and Netflix will continue to play a role given the details regarding Jessica Jones season 3. So for comic book and superhero fans, it looks like the next few years will feature plenty of TV shows to consume.
