It’s the question that has been plaguing movie buffs for years. Is Die Hard a Christmas movie or not? Well, that question has finally been answered.

Die Hard is officially a Christmas movie.

For fans of the classic Bruce Willis action flick, there was no real ‘debate’ but as far as traditional festive films go, it doesn’t exactly celebrate Christmas.

Sure, it involves a dad, John McClane, wanting to spend Christmas with his wife and family. And he does have to overcome some sort of hardship in order to reach said family. It’s just that it’s in the form of a group of terrorists and he has to kill a lot of people to do it. Insert famous one-liner. (Yippie ki-yay .............).

Even Bruce Willis himself has declared Die Hard is not a Christmas movie ending his roast on Comedy Central’s Roast of Bruce Willis saying just that.

But the makers behind the cult film have a different view (and the Die Hard movie collection to sell) and decided to release a new trailer of the 1988 movie promoting it as “The greatest Christmas story ever told”.

The 90-second ‘remake’ features all the key moments from McClane’s arrival at the Nakatomi Tower, to the classic “Ho, ho, ho” T-shirt on a dead terrorist and the exploding tower scene with a light-hearted Christmas themed tune in the background.
