DANNY John-Jules has sparked fresh fury behind the scenes at Strictly after returning for this weekend’s finale.

The actor has fallen out with professional partner Amy Dowden at rehearsals for a second time and blames her for turning the other stars against him – with insiders describing the atmosphere as “toxic”.

Show sources say many of the celebrities and dancers involved commented quietly about the tensions at rehearsals – with several giving Red Dwarf star Danny the “silent treatment”.

An insider said: “Danny has been vocal to members of the production team that Amy has really ‘turned him over’ – and he blames her for them not being booked on the Strictly Tour in January.

“Danny has been really angry. He turned up and was ignored practically by everyone and was furious with Amy.

“To say the atmosphere is tense between them is an understatement, they don’t talk, they don’t look at each other and when they aren’t being forced to dance together they are on separate sides of the room.

“Danny has been quite vocal to some of the other male celebs including Lee Ryan and Graeme Swann that he thinks Amy has deliberately tried to damage his reputation.”

The pair clashed while rehearsing early last month after Danny, 58, lost his temper during a training session – prompting Amy to storm out in tears.

Welsh pro Amy, 27, later confirmed things had become “a little intense” between them, but the actor failed to apologise and instead posted a tongue-in-cheek photograph of King Kong alongside the caption “My New CV”.

An insider added: “Amy is still really shaken by what went on, and many of the pro stars have taken her side by ignoring her.

“It has turned the final week of them all being together sour and has been the talk of the production team whilst they have been rehearsing at Elstree.”

The finale sees the shows former contestants return for a group dance in which all of this year’s celebrities perform their favourite routine of the series.

Four hopefuls remain in the contest with Stacey Dooley, Ashley Roberts, Faye Tozer and Joe Sugg competing to lift the coveted Strictly glitter ball trophy.
