September 1st, 2017 was a special day in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It's the day when the final chapter of the Harry Potter novels actually takes place. Hoards of Harry Potter fans got together to celebrate in a very special way. Since the scene takes place at King's Cross Station, fans converged on the location, many in robes and carrying wands, to wish Harry Potter's son Albus well for his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Last Friday, King's Cross Station was significantly more busy than it normally finds itself. One wonders if the people actually trying to catch the real trains had any difficulty. The tweet from the official Harry Potter website, Pottermore, shows crowds of people just hanging around in the location that is such an iconic one in the book and film series.

This particular year was special because the epilogue which ends Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which takes place 19 years after the end of the main story, chronologically takes place in 2017. The scene is also the opening of the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child stage play currently performing in London. Albus Potter, the second son of Harry, who is leaving for Hogwarts for the first time, is the primary character of the play, and fans wished him well precisely at 11 am, the moment at which the Hogwarts Express always leaves the station.

Fans weren't the only ones in attendance. Warwick Davis, who portrayed Charms Professor Flitwick, as well as a goblin of Gringotts Bank, made an appearance during the festivities.

While the primary tale of Harry Potter may be over, it's clear that the passion fans have has never been stronger. The sheer number of them that invaded King's Cross is staggering.

The Wizarding World continues to grow as the second film in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them series is currently in production. Three more films are set after that, which will undoubtedly create new iconic locations and moments for fans to celebrate in the future. The next film is scheduled for release in November of 2018.
