Looks like there’s another Brit plotting to undermine his fellow Brits during the American Revolution. The other guy fighting for the good ol USA is Tom Mison over at Fox’s “Sleeping Hollow”. Now you can add Jamie Bell, who is playing an American patriot in AMC’s “Turn”, which is supposedly based on a true story of a bunch of farmers who were pivotal in helping the colonials win their independence. No headless horsemen or hot witches in this one, though, which makes it just half as interesting as “Sleeping Hollow”. Hot witches goes a long, long way, ya know.

Check out the first 30-second spot for “Turn” below, which premiered during “The Walking Dead’s” mid-season finale last night.

“Turn” is a layered, character-driven spy thriller set during the American Revolutionary War. Based on remarkable new research featured in the book “Washington’s Spies,” by Alexander Rose, the untold story of America’s first spies has finally been decoded and declassified. “Turn” tells the tale of Abe Woodhull (Jamie Bell), a farmer living behind enemy lines in British-occupied Long Island, who bands together with a group of childhood friends to form The Culper Ring, an unlikely team of secret agents who would help turn the tide of the war in favor of the Rebels. Their daring efforts also revolutionized the art of espionage, giving birth to modern tradecraft as we know it today, along with all of the moral complexity that entails. A vibrant story with contemporary significance, “Turn” turns history into suspenseful and resonant entertainment.

The pilot is directed by Brit Rupert Wyatt, and co-stars Seth Numrich, Daniel Henshall, Heather Lind, Meegan Warner, Kevin McNally, Burn Gorman, Angus MacFadyen, JJ Field, and Samuel Roukin.

The show premieres on AMC in 2014. If AMC is uber invested in “Turn’s” fate, it will slot the show after its monster hit “The Walking Dead”, which returns for the second half of its season 4 in February 2014.
