There are few network shows which can match the power of NBC’s James Spader-starring smash hit, The Blacklist. Aware of this fact, the network slated the action/thriller in the coveted post-Super Bowl slot in 2015 – and the best part? A terrific cast is now coming together for it.

According to a new report, deals are now being set in motion for the February episode of the series – set to be written and directed by executive producer Joe Carnahan – and one of the first supporting names has now been revealed: Sons of Anarchy alum, Ron Perlman.

According to TV Guide:

Perlman will appear as Luther Braxton, a meticulous thief who plans his international heists over the course of several months or years. The ruthless baddie creates great diversions and chaos to get what he wants — that is, until he faces off with Red Reddington.

The hit NBC series recently wrapped the first half of its sophomore season with the death of two major characters, one of which served as the most gruesome to date (Alan Alda). However, it was that same death that seems to have set in motion a series of events that are going to lead straight into the The Blacklist season 2 finale. None of this is to mention the big twist at the end of the most recent episode that revealed there to be more between Red and Tom than originally suspected.

Right now, The Blacklist appears to be pulling the Lost trick of answering one mystery by peeling back the onion of mythology only to reveal more questions. Now the driving force of Reddington’s mission isn’t “why is Berlin after me,” but rather, “who tricked Berlin into thinking I was a man worth attacking?” Hopefully by the end of season 2, we’ll finally have an answer as to what exactly Red’s connection is to Liz – and with that, hopefully a mythology that brings an end to the first long-running arc of the show, launching us into something new for season 3.

But we’re getting ahead of ourselves. For now, The Blacklist is continuing to deliver on many fan expectations and there’s no doubt audiences will be in for a treat come February.

The Blacklist moves to Thursdays at 9pm on NBC following its Super Bowl episode in 2015.
