Actually I would of gone with the original Dawn of the Dead from 1978, that should of been in the selection that is the best horror flick in my opinion.
The Ring, absolutely. I *hate* jump scares so I probably haven't seen as many horror movies as I should (though I've read a metric ton of horror books), but there's something about being shown a world that clearly has its own deep-rooted history (all the tiny reference to Japanese folklore that I as a Westerner notice but don't understand at all, which makes it all the more creepy) and that isn't all that interested in following the usual Western-style storyline. Everything is just *off* in The Ring. Same with The Grudge.
