After what’s felt like an interminable wait, Amazon finally releases the full official trailer for its upcoming original series, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. The trailer comes after a brief teaser and a few images from the newest reboot of the late author’s most recognizable character showed John Krasinski take on the role made famous by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and Chris Pine. And now the full trailer shows the series is going back to Ryan’s humble beginnings as a CIA analyst with a knack for finding himself in some explosive situations.

The series isn’t set to drop on Amazon until the end of August, so this is likely just the start of the marketing blitz planned in the weeks leading up to the premiere. And considering the success of Krasinski’s directorial debut, A Quiet Place, has seen his profile increase dramatically from his days as Jim Halpert on NBC’s U.S. remake of The Office, it’s likely we’ll be seeing a lot more of the man playing Ryan as the summer starts to heat up.

As far as the trailer is concerned, it appears as though the first season of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan will take the character from a humble analyst to a guy in the midst of hunting terrorists all over the world. While that leads to the lamentable tagline of “The Analyst Is Activated,” it also demonstrates the scope of Amazon’s newest series will span the globe.

Thankfully there’s a lot more than taglines in need of some light workshopping and 2017’s most overused single, Rag’n’Bone Man’s ‘Human,’ in the trailer. It also features a much better look at Wendell Pierce as James Greer, Ryan’s (presumably) soon-to-be mentor, who was played in the Harrison Ford films by James Earl Jones, as well as Abbie Cornish’s Cathy Mueller. There’s also a brief glimpse at Timothy Hutton as Nathan M. Singer, though the extent of his role is uncertain at this time.

The series is possibly the biggest release Amazon has on tap for 2018. While the streaming service has delivered some impressive originals so far this year, with Sneaky Pete season 2 and the remake of Picnic At Hanging Rock, Jack Ryan represents the next phase of Amazon’s attempt to see its TV division turn out Game of Thrones-sized blockbusters. Though the series’ blockbuster bona fides have yet to be officially tested, with Michael Bay, Carlton Cuse, and Graham Rolland on board this new action-adventure series, Amazon’s confidence is high enough that Jack Ryan has already been renewed for season 2. It’ll be interesting to see if that pre-release enthusiasm is enough to turn this into one of Amazon’s biggest hits.

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan season 1 premieres Friday, August 31 on Amazon Prime.
