Live-action prequel of Disney's animated hit Aladdin is in the works.
THR reports that 'Genies' will focus on "the realm of the Genies" and tell the origin story of the blue-skinned show stealer from the 1992 film, originally voiced by the late Robin Williams.
Genies is being written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, who came to Hollywood's attention with their work on Freddy vs. Jason and the Friday the 13th remake before seguing into comedy with the upcoming Baywatch movie and Peter Dinklage vehicle O’Lucky Day.
According to THR, the prequel will lead into a live-action Aladdin movie in the vein of Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast and Prince Charming.
