Warning - Accounts Compromise

Hello Everyone,

Sorry to inform you that few users were spreading virus through uploads and few of our users account got compromised due to that, so we would like you to kindly read this thread completely to protect your account and follow some steps to ensure security of your account.

With Piracy comes a risk of security aswell due to cracks and patches, but most of them are just false positive but some people also use cracks and patches to hack into others system and get access to their information and it's really hard to find difference between false positive and the real virus software as both are detected as viruses by antivirus.

In the coming week we are going to increase the security of our forum and also implement and change some rules and put some restrictions in place to ensure that this kind of activity could not take place again, also share some security tips to be followed by users while using those cracks and patches to ensure their safety. So sit back and wait for those changes.

In the meanwhile lets discuss what has actually happened and what you need to do to. So firstly one of our users account got hacked by someone and he changed his email id and password and after that he started uploading content from his account in TeamOS and in some of his files he also started adding viruses, as the number of files uploaded daily are large in number so it becomes hard for our staff members to track down each and every file being uploaded and thus some of files aren't checked for viruses.

So as per our records and old proofs we have found this account was being used for spreading virus: *****

We have deleted all his threads and also recovered the account for main author, in the meanwhile we request to all our users, whether someone has downloaded from him or not, Please scan your PC for any Virus or Suspicious activity and take the necessary actions if something has happened.

As for compromised accounts we have recovered some of the compromised accounts, as of now we don't have actual data on none of compromised users, however we believe its a small number, so far we have only found 4-5 accounts being compromised and we have successfully recovered those accounts. We are going to work this whole week on security and improvement of policies and rules we have here and lots of changes are coming soon to ensure the security of our users.

Currently we have disabled the option to change the email address for security purpose.

Now let's talk about how you can secure your account on TeamOS:

Firstly visit the security section of your profile: account/security, there if possible change your password, and also enable the two step verification , so that only you could access your account.

In Login Sessions, Forget any device which you don't recognize to logout your account on those devices. We highly recommend changing password if your account has a login in unauthorized device. You can check your all Active Login Sessions in Security Section of your account.

Spreading virus through software cracks and patches is a common issues and many people keep spreading them through one source or another to get access to users system, so it becomes a responsibility of users also to ensure that whatever they install in their system are safe and secure for their system, so in the coming week we will try to mention all the possible ways one can avoid getting virus and getting hacked through these cracks and patches.

As we are still looking for the accounts which have been compromised , if you or someone you know whose account has been compromised please contact us and we will do our level best to safeguard their account. We are really sorry for having these loopholes through which these users spreading viruses, we are going to our best to ensure that this doesn't happen in future so we are going to work this next week completely on the security part and ensure the safety of users' account.
