THE war on piracy just had a major win, with one of the world’s most popular illegal streaming sites going offline.

Recent times have seen people moving away from illegally downloading torrents and watching content from illicit streaming sites.
Ranking among the 250 most-visited websites on the internet, Putlocker had long been one of the more popular sites for this type of activity.

Most popular in Australia, the United States and Canada, Putlocker had become the go-to video streaming sites for pirates.

However, for the past couple of weeks the website has been unavailable. Those hoping to use the website are now greeted with a CloudFlare error message, which suggests there is a problem with the servers supporting Putlocker.

As the domain name itself is still operating, it doesn’t appear Putlocker has been seized or suspended.
While not officially taken down, the website went offline the same time Hollywood’s MPAA reported it to the United States Trade Representative. “Putlocker.is is the most visited infringing English language video streaming link site in the world,” the MPAA wrote.

With the main site down, a number of other Putlocker variations are attempting to claim they are the new version of the website, although none of them include the content library of the original.

Whether or not Putlocker is gone for good is yet to be seen, only time will tell.
