TV Addons, one of the largest repositories for unofficial Kodi addons, has been resurrected – despite a collective effort by Canada’s largest telecom providers to kill it off.

After having its domain and social media accounts seized by the Canadian government following a lawsuit filed by Bell, Rogers, TVA and Videotron, TV Addons had a choice: throw in the towel or start again from scratch.

It chose the latter – but it was no small feat. Since it never forced users to register for anything, it only had 90,000 email addresses on file, so it had to rebuild its social presence to spread the word that it was back in action.

The team’s efforts paid off.

As of November 2017, the popular Kodi plugin has revealed it has just under 12 million monthly active users, putting it on track to the recoup the 39 million it had back in March, before the legal issues arose.

Now its distribution network is back in place, TV Addons is calling on developers to step forward with new addons.

“There’s no denying that we’ve lost some experienced developers, but together we can move forward and [fill the void],” it said in the blog post where it announced the encouraging statistics.
