The worldwide famous rock/alternative band Linkin Park has confirmed their partnership with BitTorrent and Open Labs. This has resulted in the announcement of a new version of music creation software. This software has been named StageLight and allows BitTorrent users to freely access it through its peer-to-peer sharing platform.
Initially users are allowed to experience a totally free basic version of the software. Once the users have registered with their email address or donated this is where the Linkin Park version of the StageLight software comes into play. This edition of the software has additional and advanced features such as parts of Linkin Parks library, a range of tutorials, an exclusive interview with the bands main rapper Mike Shinoda and also a 10% discount on SoundSlate gear.
When asked, Linkin Park songwriter Mike Shinoda said, “From the outset our vision for StageLight was to create powerful Windows-based music software which is enjoyable and accessible for the wildest possible audience, from beginner to pro”.
“We believe releasing this music software through an established, legitimate BitTorrent download is a great way to show gratitude to the fans in a way that is consistent with the movement in our culture”.
The CEO of Open Labs, Cliff Mountain, has been quoted saying, “Our focus as a company is to make music creation accessible to all. History has shown that the biggest obstacles have always been cost and the time required to become competent and efficient on music software. StageLight has managed to overcome both those obstacles by providing musicians with an inexpensive, accessible and easy to use app”.
