n a recent job posting, the software giant Microsoft has confirmed the existence of its up and coming Windows Blue. The latter is expected to work on a yearly upgrade model, and at a relatively low cost to anything the company has put out before.

According to industry observers, the mysterious Windows Blue is expected to roll out across Windows and Windows Phone and provide customers more regular updates across its entire ecosystem.

The advertisement in question, which was spotted by the Verge, reads that the operating system will build and improve upon such of its aspects as the start screen, windowing, personalization, and application lifecycle.

In addition, there is another, separate posting for Windows Phone which also mentions Windows Blue. Despite the fact that Windows 8 only just shipped last October, Windows Blue is believed to emerge in the middle of 2013, in what might be the most brazen rebranding ever: the blue color, up until now, used to be associated with the dreaded Blue Screen of Death.

Since it’s the early days, just whether Windows Blue will be a success is unclear, but the experts believe that all sorts of initiatives to win consumers over as the software giant represent its attempts to make its mark on the “post-PC” lot of devices like smartphones, tablets, desktops and personal computers. Once Microsoft has a single standard OS, it will obviously be easier for the software giant to market many of its products as part of a single, linked ecosystem. Just like Apple.
