NEW YORK: IBM said it has acquired Daeja Image Systems, which makes software meant to make it easier for businesses and IT workers to view large documents and images.

The companies did not disclose terms of the deal. IBM said Daeja's software allows users to open documents and images in hundreds of file formats even if they don't have the native application on their computer or mobile device.

UK-based Daeja was privately held.

Shares of IBM dipped 92 cents to $193.50 in Thursday morning trading.
