    Filelist, the largest torrent site in Romania, closes after 16 years

    The administrator of Filelist, the oldest and most famous torrent site in Romania, has announced that it will close after 16 years.

    The Filelist administrator notes that he decided "it's best to close the site rather than risk something like this. I'm truly sorry, I've also put a lot of work into this and I've always had the community at heart. As a SysOp I thank you for your active involvement in our community."

    But,Filelist.ro was temporarily shut down by the authorities in 2020.The oldest and most famous torrent site in Romania became inactive for a few days 3 years ago, when the Prosecutors at the High Court of Cassation and Justice obtained its seizure.

    Filelist.ro could no longer be accessed at the beginning of May of the respective year, and those who still entered Filelist.ro were greeted by the message:

    "This domain name is seized in accordance with the provisions of art. 249 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. This domain name is the subject of a criminal case."

    It was the only time in the history of over a decade of operation of the torrent site when the Romanian authorities tried to take a measure against it, although its activities were well-known. However, Filelist.ro has been reborn on a new server under the name Filelist.io, demonstrating its resilience and willingness to continue providing a platform for torrenting enthusiasts. We don't know if the admin have concerned about this and if this influence his decision or maybe he knows something we don't.

    But his decision is to be appreciated to keep the user safe till the end. Update will come soon!

    Yesterday is history,
    Tomorrow is a mystery,
    But today; Today is a gift;
    That's why they call it present.

    This reminds me of Zamunda.net. The bulgarian version of Filelist. One opened in 2006 and the other in 2007. Both have problems with the law and the government. Both became most popular in their countries. Fortunately, Zamunda still exists.
