    Demonoid Website Resurrected from Dead

Demonoid BitTorrent tracker and website has been offline for almost 2 years, but now the service is back from the dead. Although the Demonoid tracker was back online a few weeks ago, now its website is also accessible. If you used to have an account with Demonoid, you can use your login details and see that most of the old torrents are still listed.
The entertainment industry won’t like this news, as Demonoid was known as the largest semi-private BitTorrent tracker ever existed. The service was a safe harbor for millions of file-sharers.

Back in August 2012, Demonoid was said to suffer from some major technical problems that forced the tracker off. Its members were patient, but when it never returned, most of them just gave up hope. Now it is located at a different address, Demonoid.ph, but its .com and .me domains redirect to that as well.

However, it seems that the tracker is still in a pre-launch state, and everything could go offline again in case of any sudden problem. According to a message that appeared on the Demonoid’s homepage, the tracker made some changes to the backend, and there might be some glitches. For example, the website is now cloud based, and its developers admit they made many changes to the code. The site operators promised to do what they can to get everything working smoothly, but nobody’s perfect.

It is also known that several of the former staffers are still involved, but no one knows whether the website’s management changed hands or not. In the meantime, there used to be fears that the Demonoid’s userbase may have been compromised or sold off. Moreover, people are still scratching head about what the site operators have been doing for the last 20 months. Kim Dotcom, for example, got arrested, released on bail and already rebuilt his empire in a shorter term.
