Apple released Safari 6 this summer and it is packed with a lot of great features that you may not be aware of. To access all the great features in Safari 6, you will need to upgrade to Mountain Lion which is the latest version of Mac OS X. Perhaps one of the most useful features of Safari 6 is the Share button. This article will take a look at how you can take full advantage of this simple yet powerful feature.

In previous versions of Safari you could only send a simple link to someone via email. However, in Safari 6, it has not only improved the way you can send a web page via email but also it has expanded to include the ability to send links to your favorite social networks or to send it via iMessage. Also new is the ability to save your pages for offline reading.
If you want to send a web page to someone via email, all you have to do is click on the share button located right next to the address/search field and select “Email this Page” in the drop down list.
This will open a new email message in the mail application. By default, it will drop the entire web page into the message field. But you can easily change it to either a PDF file or a simple web link by clicking on the ‘Send Web Content As:’ drop down menu located just above your message on the right side.
Sending Links to Your Social Networks:

You can also set up Safari 6 to send your favorite links to your friends via Twitter, Facebook (which will begin in the fall of 2012) and iMessage using the ‘Share’ button as well. The first time you send a web page to your followers via Twitter, you will be prompted to login in to your Twitter account. Once that is set, you are ready to tweet to your heart’s content.

As for iMessage, you will need to have your iCloud account set up on your computer for it to work. If you have recently upgraded Mountain Lion or have recently bought a new Mac, you would have been prompted to sign in with your iCloud/iTunes account information. If you did, then you are set for sending web pages via iMessage.

Add To Reading List for Offline Reading:

This is a great feature if you want to be able to read your web pages offline. This is comes in handy if occasionally you use your MacBook in areas that do not have Wi-Fi access.

To save a page for offline reading, you simply click on the ‘Share’ button and select ‘Add to Reading List.’ Besides using the share, you can also click on a link while holding down the ‘Shift’ key on your keyboard.

To access your saved pages, you simply click on the reading glasses located just below the share button. Once clicked, a pane will pop out on the left side with a list of all the pages that you have saved.
As you can see, the simple Share button on Safari 6 is packed with powerful and useful features. This button alone makes Safari a much better browser. Try it out for yourself and see how useful it is.
