With computers taking over most activities, your task mostly resumes at providing the necessary resources or data. When it comes to pictures, they are used by various services for account management.

Depending on the requirement and service, a profile picture, for instance, might only be able to be used if provided at a preset, usually small resolution. Chances are, even when uploading multiple photos or using them in different projects, pictures need to be at a certain resolution.

These can easily be resized with Microsoft’s Paint utility, but it takes some time. Below you find some insight on resizing with Paint, as well as with a specialized application.

With Windows built-in features

Step 1-a: Right-click the picture you want to resize, and choose to Edit.

Step 1-b: Open MS Paint and drag the target picture over the main window.

Step 2: Press the Resize button.

Step 3: Choose the scaling method, either Percentage or Pixels.

Step 4: For Percentage, enter the proportion you want to reach from the original size. For Pixels, just write specific height and width. For more flexibility, uncheck the box to Maintain aspect ratio.

Step 5: Select File and Save As new picture.

Using third-party applications

Step 1: Download, install, and run FastStone Photo Resizer.

Step 2: In the left pane, navigate to the location of the pictures you want to resize.

Step 3: Either select and add pictures individually, or hit the Add All button.

Note: You can switch to a thumbnails view for easy identification.

Step 4: Check to Use Advanced Options, and click the button that appears next to the field.

Step 5: Enable Resize, select specifications, and press OK.

Step 6: Pick a destination folder, and press Convert to initiate the process.
