A WOMAN has died today after plunging from the balcony of a high-rise tower block in Bristol.

The victim was found by cops near the flats in Redcliffe, Bristol, this afternoon.

Paramedics were called but sadly she died at the scene. Her death is not being treated as suspicious.

Cops have set up a cordon around the area and an investigation has been launched.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We were called today at 12.50pm to reports of a woman falling from the balcony of a flat in Somerset Street, Redcliffe.

"The woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"Police are assisting ambulance crews at the scene, and the death is not being treated as suspicious."

One resident in the 12-storey Yeamans House said the woman fell from the sixth floor.

Cops remained on the scene last night, with a blue tent set up on the ground throughout the evening.

Traffic was moving freely in both directions despite police vehicles blocking the pavement directly in front of the building.
