i think my favorite book is the hobbit by jrr tolkien. don't read alot off books, but i think this one is pretty cool

A really good author is a guy called David Gemmel, he's written some awesome novels including a different take on Troy which is really fantastic. Some other smaller titles like Jon Shannow which he'd also written, dead now thought unfortunately, but check him out if you like stories of brutal justice and retribution
