THREE people were rushed to hospital this morning after being struck by a car which mounted a footpath in Co Louth.

The incident took place at approximately 1.16am at Market Street in Ardee when the three pedestrians were hit by a silver Vauxhall Vectra which mounted the footpath and failed to stop.

Gardai are appealing for information about the incident

Two females, aged 20 and 21, and a 53-year-old male were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda after the incident.

Gardai in Ardee, Co Louth are appealing for information about the serious hit-and-run incident.

The car was later found crashed and abandoned a short distance away.

The injured people were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and treated for various injuries.

The conditions are not believed to be life-threatening and investigations are still ongoing.

A spokesperson said: “Gardaí at Ardee, Co Louth are appealing for information to a serious hit-and-run road traffic collision which occurred this morning, Sunday 28th October, 2018, at approximately 1.16am at Market Street, Ardee.

“Investigating Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have information or dash cam footage to contact Ardee Garda Station on 041-687 1134, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.”
