SNAPCHAT stopped working for hundreds of users on Tuesday morning – but now appears to be fixed.

Frustrated Snappers complained that the app wouldn't let them send snaps, receive snaps, or refresh content.

Website outage tracker Down Detector clocked as many as 700 reports about the app in just a few minutes.

And the live outage map revealed that users across the world were experiencing problems – including the UK, and most of Europe.

Users took to Twitter to complain, with one writing: "Is my Snapchat the only one not working?!"

Another said: "Anyone else's Snapchat not working?"

The outage began just before 8am UK time.

It seems reports generally subsided around 15 minutes later, suggesting that the problem had been resolved.

But it's a major gaffe that went unexplained on Snapchat's official support page on Twitter.

We've asked Snapchat for comment and will update this story with any response.

Snapchat is one of the world's most popular social networks.

Around 188million people log onto Snapchat every single day, despite the company being relatively new.

Snapchat only launched six years ago, in September 2011.

It shot to popularity thanks to its self-deleting messages – pictures and videos you send disappear after being watched.
