The Iraqi authorities detained a prominent Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS, ISIL) militant during a raid in Mosul’s left bank, the Baghdad Post reported Saturday, citing sources. Law enforcement acted on precise intelligence data as they made the arrest, the report says. The arrested warlord was identified as Ebrahim Mesha'al Marei. He was handed over to the authorities and is set to face legal proceedings. In a separate raid, the Iraqi authorities arrested a militant armed with a Russian-made man-portable anti-tank missile in northern Baghdad, the Baghdad Post reported. His identity is yet to be determined.
