SALIM Mehajer is ‘wasting now time’ getting back on the social media wagon after his release from prison.

The controversial former Auburn deputy mayor posted the image of himself with the caption “Back to busy-ness (sic) ... WASTING NO TIME “ on Thursday night to his Instagram story.

He could be seen in the picture smiling, wearing a suit and showing off his sunglasses and man-bag.

The disgraced former Auburn deputy mayor was released from prison on Wednesday night following a two-month stint in jail after he was charged with perverting the course of justice for allegedly staging a car accident on his way to face court on assault charges.

He subsequently pleaded guilty to the assault offences and was placed on a good behaviour bond.

He yesterday celebrated his first few hours as a free man with a haircut, a facial and by returning to his beloved social media where he told his followers: “I’m back”.

Mehajer, 31, was granted bail on his fourth attempt last week and was finally released from Silverwater jail last night. The Sydney businessman had been in custody since January when he was arrested on charges he staged a car crash while he was on his way to court for an assault hearing.

In the initial few hours outside of the jail walls he took to Snapchat to post videos of himself getting a haircut and a facial. The first video was accompanied by a caption saying: “I’m back”.

Justice Desmond Fagan imposed strict conditions for Mehajer’s release including a $200,000 surety.

He’s also required to report to Bankstown Police Station twice daily and must not leave NSW or go within 500 metres of Sydney Airport.

Last week, the court heard Mehajer has family ties with Lebanon and that a letter from an unknown source was intercepted before it reached him in jail that said there was a plane for him in Queensland.

Mehajer, who was recently declared bankrupt, is also facing a fresh allegation he perverted the course of justice by providing fraudulent letters in a bail application at Burwood Local Court earlier in March.

Mehajer is scheduled to face court on April 11 over an alleged electoral fraud plot with his younger sister Fatima Mehajer.
