A RUSSIAN model broke her spine after jumping from the sixth floor of a Dubai hotel while reportedly fleeing a man trying to rape and kill her.

Friends of Ekaterina Stetsyuk, 22, from Irkutsk, Siberia, said she “survived by a miracle” but is unable to move or walk as she awaits surgery.

Ekaterina’s attacker has now reportedly launched a counter claim against her, and the model has allegedly been arrested in her hospital bed.

The details of the counter claim have not been released, but unverified claims allege the model was working as an escort in Dubai.

Friend Irina Grossman said Ekaterina “survived by a miracle”.

She said: “To save her life and dignity, she jumped from the sixth floor.

“Her spine is broken, several vertebrae were crushed.

“She cannot walk or move by herself, but doctors are giving a good prognosis because her spinal cord is intact.”

The man, whose nationality is unknown, was reportedly detained at the airport seeking to flee Dubai and faces up to 15 years in jail if convicted.

He made the unknown allegations against the model while under interrogation.

Russian channel NTV reported that Ekaterina was followed by a rich “foreigner” and “refused to be with him”.

The TV station reported: “He got angry and attacked Ekaterina, trying to kill her.”

Her mother Inge and friend Ms Grossman are raising money by crowdfunding to cover the initial $A20,000 medical costs in Dubai.

Inge hit back at claims made on social media in Russia that her daughter was working as an escort when the incident took place, and said she had come to Dubai on a month-long contract.

The crowdfunder appeal states that Ekaterina has “long and expensive rehabilitation” ahead of her.

It reads: “We appeal to those who know Ekaterina and just to all sympathetic people.

“Give her a chance to recover.”

Speaking from her hospital bed, Ekaterina recorded a video to reassure her mother, saying: “I am doing well, do not worry about me.

“People from the (Russian) Consulate visited. I can get in touch with you.

“My surgery was postponed. We’ll see how it goes.

“All is fine, Mummy. I love you. Kisses. I have got everything.”

Russian Consul in Dubai Gocha Buachidze said: “We are thoroughly studying the situation around Russian citizen Ekaterina Stetsyuk and we are providing all necessary support to her.

“The investigation is in progress.

“The Consulate cannot give any more details of the accident due to the request of the citizen herself.”
