NETGEAR has rolled out a new firmware package compatible with its FS728TPv2 smart switch, namely version 5.2.0.42, which resolves an issue where the device might reboot if SNMP is used for monitoring over a period of time.

In addition to that, this new update also removes the bug that caused connection to be lost for a few seconds every 2 to 3 weeks, when IP phones were connected to the switch. Moreover, it fixes the issue where device view fails to come up after updating to Java JRE 7u51 or newer on the host computer.
When it comes to known issues and workarounds, if you can’t remove a port from a VLAN that is a LAG member, a good idea would be to remove the link or the port from the LAG first. Also, if a policy entry can’t be deleted completely the first time, it will certainly work the second time.
Last but not least, in the event of setting the maximum number of allowed static locked MAC address to zero and when no static MAC address can be added even when port security is disabled, NETGEAR recommends changing back the "Max Allowed Statically Locked MAC" from 0 to 20.
As for installation, save and unzip the downloadable archive, log into its administration page, back up the unit’s configuration settings, and use the newly extracted .stk file to complete the upgrade.

That said, download NETGEAR FS728TPv2 Switch Firmware 5.0.2.42, carefully apply it on your unit, and enjoy the changes implemented by this new release.
