The prospect of meeting Queen Elizabeth II could be daunting for anyone, but for nine-year-old Nathan Grant, it was too much.

Nathan was meeting the Queen with his parents, British TV personalities Carrie and David Grant at Coram, the UK’s oldest children’s charity.

His mum began to introduce him to the Queen saying, “This is our adopted son.”

For a moment it looked like Nathan was going to perform an elaborate bow.

Instead, he dropped to his knees and crawled away between his parents, around those gathered and out the door.

“That’s his version of a bow,” Carrie joked as the Queen and other guests laughed.

Seconds later, Nathan can be heard yelling “bye” to the 92-year-old monarch.

The Grant family has four children, all with special needs. Nathan has ADHD and attachment issues.

Carrie and David adopted him when he was two.
