A NURSE who was killed by an alleged drink-driver just days before Christmas has been remembered as a "happy and bubbly" mum.

Rebecca Louise, 34, died in a car crash in north Wales on Friday evening.

Osian Hicks Thomas, 20, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, drink-driving and failing to stop, and is due to appear in court today.

The young man spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth before he was remanded in custody, Daily Post reported.

According to police, the crash involved a blue Ford Focus, a black Volkswagen Golf and a black Audi Q3 on the A499 near Penrhos, just outside Pwllheli, Gwynedd.

Rebecca's family spoke of their devastation after the crash, saying the dedicated mum had been "stolen" from them.

In a statement, they said: "We have lost such a precious and beautiful lady. Rebecca was a happy, funny and bubbly 34 year old who touched everyone she met with her loving caring nature.

"She was a dedicated nurse at Ysbyty Gwynedd and had recently ventured into opening her own business.

"She was a daughter, granddaughter, sister, mother and friend who will be missed by everyone who knew her.

"Her partner, daughter, family and friends were the centre of her life.

"She had an amazing future ahead of her before being stolen from us.

"Rebecca would be described as a very special lady by all who knew her and will leave a great hole that can never be filled."

Police said the driver of a blue Ford Focus had fled the scene after the collision but was was arrested later at an address in the Pwllheli area.

Sergeant Meurig Jones, of the Western Roads Policing Unit, said: "We are keen to speak with any witnesses who may have seen the manner of driving of the blue Ford Focus between Llanbedrog and Pwllheli.

"We would also like to hear from anyone who may have information in relation to the collision or anyone who may have had dashcam footage of the journey.

"The A499 remained closed for several hours whilst officers conducted their investigations. Id like to thank the public for their co-operation during this period."

Tributes have since been left at the scene.
