THE mum of a British baby who drowned in the bath faces prison allegedly leaving the infant unattended to check Facebook.

Kayla Lynton, 23, was arrested in Tel Aviv by cops investigating claims of neglect in connection with the death of six-month-old Naomi in July.

It is believed that Kayla said she left the child to go to the toilet.

But now prosecutors are looking into claims she was on Facebook and Instagram when the drowning took place.

It's possible that she visited the sites while on the toilet, but cops are said to be focusing on a ten-minute window before Naomi's drowning to get a clearer picture of what happened.

Kayla, who is married to British recruitment worker Ilan Lynton, reportedly called emergency services when she found Naomi unconscious under the water — but the baby couldn't be saved and died after a week in a coma.

Ilan confirmed Kayla's phone had been taken by cops as part of their investigation, The Mirror reports.

Ofer Bartal, Kayla's lawyer, said: "Kayla does not know what to do with herself.

"After she saw Naomi was unconscious she tried to resuscitate her and she called the emergency workers and the police."

Dad Ilan moved from London to Tel Aviv over five years ago.

He married Kayla after they met in 2015 and had their first daughter, Elizabeth, two, less than a year later.

Conditions of a surety bond for 2,000 shekel (£420) shows cops are looking at several possible charges: "Causing severe injury to the helpless; neglect of a minor or a person unable to provide for own needs; injury through negligence; and negligent supervision of a child".

Israeli legal experts say Kayla could face nine years in prison if she's indicted on the most serious possible offence.

Ilan and Kayla are believed to have split up since Naomi's death.
