A DUTCH mobster was gunned down outside a kinky sex club on the orders of a notorious Scottish drug gang, cops believe.

Convict turned reporter Martin Kok, 49, was shot on December 8, 2016, just hours after posing for a half-naked snap in a seedy Amsterdam sex dungeon.

Murder detectives in the Netherlands travelled to Scotland to ask local cops about Operation Escalade - an investigation into the crime syndicate believed to be behind Kok's death.

The operation led to nine members of the group being locked up for a total of 87 years.

They believe double-killer Kok was executed on the orders of two Glasgow-born gangland kingpins - who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Detective Chief Superintendent Gerry McLean, head of organised crime and counter terrorism, told The Daily Record: "I cannot comment on any live investigation.

“However, the conviction and sentencing this year of individuals involved in the Escalade crime group was significant in terms of disrupting their illegal business, which operates on a truly international level.

“While we continue to investigate the larger network, I cannot underestimate the value of working with a range of European partners.”

Kok - whose coffin was carried by several glamorous models - turned to writing after 15 years in jail.

He specialised in crime scoops thanks to his inside knowledge, network and fearless attitude.

His crime blog was one of the most popular in the Netherlands, and the writer in the past said "he knew he was a target from criminals because of his stories”.

There had been previous attempts on Kok’s life - including one failed shooting attempt on the night he died.

And in 2015 two gangsters rained bullets on his car while he slept in his house.
