Zakharova: Kiev closed access to plots due to possible discontent with the results of voting

MOSCOW, March 18. / TASS /. Blocking the access of Russians to Ukraine to the polling stations for voting in the presidential elections is completely illegal. This was stated by TASS official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

"The Kyiv authorities began to intimidate Russian citizens long before March 18, launching information about pogroms and provocations at polling stations in Russian overseas institutions," the diplomat noted. "When it became obvious that the citizens of Russia were not intimidating, and the Russians, in spite of everything, they will equally come and vote, the Kiev regime went to unprecedented measures - announced the physical non-admission of Russian citizens on the day of voting for polling stations. "

According to her, the answer to the question, why Kiev needs this, is obvious. "Citizens of Russia who intended to vote in Ukraine see with their own eyes what is happening there, so their choice would be obvious." Such a result of the will of the Kiev authorities could not be arranged, "Zakharova stressed.

"That is why the regime, absolutely shamelessly and unlawfully, prevented the participation of Russian citizens in the vote," the diplomat said.

On March 8, the organizations of Ukrainian nationalists announced that they would tear down the voting on the day of presidential elections in the polling stations organized in the diplomatic representations of Russia in Ukraine. Later, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov said that the regime of protection of Russian diplomatic institutions in the territory of Ukraine "will not provide for access to these objects of citizens of the Russian Federation on March 18 for voting at the elections."

The approaches to the building of the Russian embassy in Kiev from the night are blocked by hundreds of representatives of the law enforcement agencies and nationalists. At the same time, the siloviks let only diplomats into the building.

Similar restrictions for citizens of the Russian Federation on the day of the presidential elections were introduced at the buildings of the consulates in Odessa, Kharkov and Lviv.
