Meghan Markle’s rift with her father Thomas Markle will “get worse” after she gives birth, a royal biographer has warned.

Andrew Morton, author of Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, believes the birth of the royal baby is bound to draw a “public lament” from her estranged dad.

“There is the little matter of baby Sussex arriving in April,” Morton wrote in Britain’s The Telegraph.

“Amid the joy and lament will be a public lament from Meghan’s father wondering if he will ever be allowed to see the child.”

Her 74-year-old dad revealed he was “very sad” over the pair’s turbulent relationship that saw him release a letter the Duchess of Sussex wrote him, begging him to stop “victimising” her.

Meanwhile, Meghan has made an unannounced trip to New York City.

The 37-year-old, who is in her third trimester and expected to give birth in April, is in town to celebrate her pregnancy, the New York Post reports.

A baby shower for the actor-turned-royal will take place on Tuesday local time.

Meghan’s best friend and stylist, Jessica Mulroney, is also in town to shower the mum-to-be. The exclusive party will reportedly take place at a hotel on the Upper East Side with Mulroney taking charge of co-ordinating everything.

Us Weekly reports the Duchess was seen at Laduree restaurant and bakery in Soho, having lunch with a friend.

“They were having a lovely time, laughing and talking with each other,” the eyewitness said.

The Palace has not commented on the unannounced visit.

It’s unclear if Meghan will also have a baby shower back in the UK.

It’s believed to be only the second trip Meghan has made to her home country since the royal wedding in May 2018.

Meghan’s first child with husband Prince Harry is expected to arrive at the end of April.
