A BRITISH magazine focusing on high society, politics, fashion and lifestyle has given Meghan Markle its top honour — Girl of the Year.

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, who has appeared on the cover of the May issue of Tatler, made the magazine’s best dressed list in August, with the editorial raving about her outfits: “Prince Harry’s Californian bride blew us away with her Givenchy wedding dress and has redefined modern royal style with every subsequent appearance.”

Now, the Duchess of Sussex will appear in the October issue of Tatler—this time with the annual accolade of Girl of the Year. The issue will also list the Girl of the Year winners for every year dating back to 1960.

Meghan joins the company of other rich, famous, well-connected, and sometimes royal female luminaries such as Pippa Middleton and Cara Delevingne.

It’s a tight-knit, selective bunch, with Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas also making the Girl of the Year list.

The October cover will feature Lady Amelia Windsor.

But even Tatler itself admits that Meghan is possibly above the honour, with staffer Rebecca Thorpe writing that some of the earlier list-makers are “toffs, mischief-makers and social media mavens”, whereas Meghan “is none of the above, although she is nonetheless worthy of the accolade.”
