MOSCOW, Mar 4 - RIA Novosti. The former Soviet polygon Yavorov in the west of Ukraine in 2015 was converted and adapted for training soldiers and officers of the APU American specialists, now this is one of the most secret places in the country, writes the Swiss edition of Le Temps.

It is noted that servicemen from other countries, including Canadians, British and Lithuanians, come to the training ground.

The main goal of training, according to Le Temps, is the general improvement of the qualification of Ukrainian army personnel, which will allow them to adapt more quickly to NATO standards and learn how to fight better.

For three years, the former Soviet base has become a permanent place for about 200 American and 250 Canadian soldiers, for whom barracks, dining rooms and gyms have been built.

In total, since 2015, about six thousand Ukrainian servicemen have been trained at the training ground, the newspaper writes.

Earlier, deputy head of the operational command of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic Eduard Bazurin said that a group of Pentagon officers had arrived in Donbass to check the readiness of the siloviki for the offensive. According to him, American officers were accompanied by representatives of the Ukrainian General Staff.
