A HUSBAND was killed by a gust of wind while celebrating his 55th wedding anniversary.

Jim Tattersall, 85, was walking arm-in-arm with wife Anne, 79, when they were blown over on a seaside promenade.

He hit his head on the ground and died in hospital from his injuries.

Anne suffered head and hip injuries in Llandudno, North Wales.

Mrs Tattersall thanked locals who rushed to their aid after they were knocked to the ground. She said: "Everybody was fantastic.

The staff at Barclays bank brought out a chair and some blankets, and two police officers managed to stem the blood from Jim's head injury.

The grandparents, from Brierfield, Lancs, were on holiday in the town during Storm Ali last week.

Anne said: “It’s a terrible shock. I’ll miss his jokes and companionship.”
