The Kremlin regrets the CAS decision and will continue to help athletes defend their rights

The Kremlin regrets the decision of the Sports Arbitration Court (CAS) to prevent 47 Russian athletes before the Olympics in Pyeongchang and will continue to help athletes defend their rights. As the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov told journalists, now is not the time to speak loud words, and most importantly to support the athletes.

"Regarding the CAS decision, we regret that we take into account the decision of this court and, of course, we will continue to help our athletes defend their words," the Kremlin spokesman said.

In his opinion, "some big words about reforming [the International Olympic Committee and the World Anti-Doping Agency] now is not the time to speak." "The main thing is to support our athletes: those who stayed at home, and those who went to Korea now and will speak there, that's probably our main task now," stressed Peskov.

Answering the question whether it is planned to hold any festive events in Russia after the performance of athletes at the Olympics, Peskov noted that it is too early to talk about this, since the Games are just beginning.
