JOKER Shaun Haggerty danced in a novelty thong for a dare with workmates — but was fired when bosses failed to see the funny side.

The 33-year-old pallet repairer pranced across a warehouse yard in the “elephant willy warmer” as customers and “business associates” looked on.

Pals thought it so funny they shared footage of the prank on social media. But Shaun’s employers called him in days later and said he would be fired for gross misconduct.

A letter confirming his dismissal told how he “danced the full length of the yard wearing only an Elephant thong, Hi Viz and boots”.

It added: “I deem your actions to be gross misconduct on the grounds of Health and Safety and common decency.”

Shaun, from St Helens, Merseyside, has since got a new job — and a pink mankini as a memento from his girlfriend.

He said he was hailed a hero over the stunt and formal letter.

He said: “Everybody’s laughed. I’ve had people bowing to me in the street.

“We always had a laugh there, but the boss who fired me was new.” Shaun’s former employers did not comment.
