THE Foreign Secretary has deepened a new rift with the US by attacking Donald Trump for oversimplifying the world’s problems.

Jeremy Hunt lashed out at the President to accuse him of having “a speciality” in talking about global issues “in black and white terms”.

He also contradicted the US leader to insist the war against ISIS “is not over”.

The row comes after President Trump dramatically ordered all US troops to pull out of Syria last week without giving the UK or other allies any notice.

Mr Hunt’s blunt assessment risks infuriating the White House boss, who is notoriously thin skinned and bears longterm grudges on anyone who publicly slights him.

Mr Hunt told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme yesterday: “President Trump makes a speciality out of talking in very black and white terms about what’s happening in the world.

“I think the UK assessment is that we have made massive progress in the war against Daesh but it’s not over.

“Although they have lost nearly all the territory they held, they still hold some territory and there are still some real risks.”

The Foreign Secretary confirmed Britain’s special forces, training troops and fast jet pilots would continue with the mission against the twisted Islamist movement.

He added: “We have to continue to be vigilant, we don’t believe we can be at all complacent in the situation we’re in.”

Mr Trump justified his decision to withdraw from Syria by telling US troops during a Christmas visit to Iraq: “We’re no longer the suckers, folks”.

After claiming that the US had already knocked ISIS “silly”, he added: “The United States cannot continue to be the policeman of the world.

“It’s not fair when the burden is all on us.

"We are in countries people haven’t even heard about.”
