IRISH Penneys shoppers are being warned to watch out for an email scam offering 750 "absolutely free".

The email, which was shared by a Twitter user this morning, asks for your contact details in return for a PIN number to collect your prize.

The message reads: "Hey I'm very much excited to share with you that you have a chance to win 750 absolutely free.

"Happy thing is no need your credit card.

"Just put your mobile number here and we will send you a PIN, simply submit that pin to rise your chance of winning free 750 to spend at Penny's!"

The email goes on to explain further details are available at a "free shopping" blog.

The scam was shared by TechBuzz Ireland, who wrote: "Penneys Ireland email scam to watch out for @primark."

The "free shopping" blog includes a screenshot posing as the Penneys website with the option to enter your mobile phone number.

Primark has confirmed the offer is not being run by their company and replied to the original Twitter to confirm they are investigating the scam.

They said: "This is not run by us. Thanks for letting us know, we are looking into this!"
