THIS is the moment have-a-go heroes wrestled a knife from a teenager today as he allegedly stabbed a man in the hand in the middle of a crowded East London high street.

Dramatic footage shows two men trying to get the blade off the youth in broad daylight near Upton Park Tube station.

Horrified shoppers look on as the apparently violent teenager pushes the grappling group from the pavement and onto the road into the path of traffic.

A Good Samaritan is then seen running to their aid and trying to bring the knife-armed teenager to safety.

Dashcam footage shows the fight taking place directly behind a bus in the middle of a heaving Green Street, shortly before 1pm.

Another man holding a shopping bag and then a fourth appear and join the struggle as they try and wrestle the knife safely out of the way.

One man appears to have been injured by the knife and runs out of the road, where a queue of cars is now waiting.

The dramatic clip then shows the group of men, who appear to be in their 30s and 40s, grabbing on to the man until a man in grey tracksuit bottoms wrest the knife from him and the scabbard spins dramatically through the air.

Towards the end of the clip the youth is seen kicking and shoving yet another bystander on a car as one of the heroes puts the knife safely back in the scabbard.

A second video then shows one of those heroes clutching his bleeding hand with a bandage while cops appear to hold the suspect to the ground, which is spattered with blood.

A Met Police spokesman said: "Police in Newham were called to Green Street, E13 at 12:50hrs on Saturday, 18 August following reports of a fight.

"Officers attended and found a man in his twenties suffering from a stab wound to the hand. He has been taken by London Ambulance Service to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not life threatening.

"A 16-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of GBH and taken to an east London police station for questioning. Enquiries continue."
